Five years after shunning the pornographic pigs of the music industry, Canadas legendary songbird is back in the spotlight with Shine.
A ten-song collection, Joni Mitchells new album includes If I had a Heart a track the New York Times describes as one of the most haunting melodies she has ever written.
More upbeat is the rework of her classic hit Big Yellow Taxi, and the new tracks This Place, Hana and the anti-war Strong and Wrong may have a jazzy feel but, true to form, the lyrics are starker than ever.
If, the optimistic closer adapted from Rudyard Kiplings poem and the title track "Shine" may be proof that the ever-pessimistic Mitchell wasnt ready to give it up after all.
Released nationwide September 25, 2007.
