SOUL FOOD

February 10, 2008

Cupids busiest day of the year is coming up. Expect to catch the little
cherub at any one of these loveable haunts.

Owned and operated by childhood sweethearts Ellis and Cher-Ann, Kalendar
is one of the most romantic spots in the city. Cupid loves the baked
Camembert ($11.95) followed by a signature scroll ($14.95). 546 College
St., Toronto, 416-923-4138, www.kalendar.com

Forget fancy linens and pouty waiters. For some of the best Latin nosh
in town, Cupid suggests Tacos El Asador. The Sopa de Pata ($7) is bound
to spice things up. 690 Bloor St. W., Toronto, 416-538-9747.

As far as bistros go, few compete with Parkdales Cowbell.
The winged cherub is vegan, but even he finds that 16-ounce pork chop
($25) hard to resist. 1564 Queen St. W., 416-849-1095. http://www.cowbellrestaurant.ca/

Nestled on one of Cupids favourite resto-strips, 93 Harbord is perfect
for a quiet tête-à-tête. Share a meze platter (6 tapas size dishes for
$40) of humus, tabouleh and baba ghnaouj on piping hot pita. 93 Harbord
St., Toronto, 416-922-5914.
