Feast of the East

October 23, 2009

We have plenty of love for Parc Avenue, but a girl can only eat so much
souvlaki in one week.

Our taste buds are cheering the arrival of Kaza
Maza
, a Middle Eastern resto serving succulent recipes from Lebanon,
Armenia and Syria. We adore the airy décor with exposed brick walls and
recycled lathe tables, but its the food (oh the food!) that had us at salaam.

Start with cold mezze starters (two for $7) like the yummy roasted beet
Mutabbal, prepared with tahini, lemon and olive oil. Wash it down
(slowly) with Arak, a strong Lebanese pastis, before digging into the
Pistachio Kefta beef and lamb meatballs with Aleppo pepper ($8).

At this rate, we might have eaten our last spanakopita. Sorry Tassos.
