The Calgary International Film Festival begins 10-days of more than 200
screenings. You cant see them all, but here are five flicks to watch for.
Being Elmo: A Puppeteers Journey
Meet Kevin Clash, the shy guy
behind the helium-voiced fuzzy muppet that tickles the world with his
charm.
Servitude
Ivan Reitman and Eugene Levy consulted on this Canadian
comedy about a waiter who tries to hand in his resignation just before
all hell breaks loose at Ranch Steakhouse. Watch for Margo Kidder as a
cougar sporting unfortunate plastic surgery.
Restless
Gus Van Sant directs Mia Wasikowska and Henry Hopper as
a young couple whose new love is as complicated by the constant presence
of death as it is quirky in its childlike innocence.
Sleeping Beauty
Julia Leighs chilling screenplay about a
university student who agrees to be drugged to sleep allowing men to do
what they want with her was kicking around on Hollywoods Black List for
a few years before being produced by Jane Campion.
Take This Waltz
Writer-director Sarah Polleys take on the modern
love triangle stars Michelle Williams as the conflicted wife, Seth Rogen
as the doting husband and Luke Kirby as the lover who complicates the
concept of long term love. Jaelyn Molyneux
