Catch it if you can

October 7, 2011

The newly renovated Catch brings the best food from the surf to our
landlocked turf.

Catch
as been shucking oysters and flying seafood into downtown
Calgary daily since 2002. That is until this summer when it shut down
for two months for an overhaul. Its reopening at the end of September
revealed a predictably stellar menu with favourites including scallop
ceviche, poached spot prawns, Dungeness crab and Nova Scotia lobster.
This time around the wine menu comes via iPad with an interactive app
that lets you search by price and pairing.

Fussy white tablecloths have been tossed aside in favour of glossy dark
wood tables along with red hot tufted banquets, floor-to-ceiling racks
of wine. Exposed sandstone walls and safety deposit boxes serving as
wall art hint at the history of Catchs location in the old Imperial Bank
of Canada building.

Its beachfront food, Calgary style. Jaelyn Molyneux
