All Hail Queen Victoria

May 17, 2012

This weekend is a long one and while it is traditionally celebrated with
beers at a campsite, lest we forget it is Victoria Day and a celebration
of the longest reigning British monarch.

Queen V took the thrown at age 18 in 1837 and brought as plenty to
celebrate. Mark the day properly with dainty sandwiches at Heritage
Parks Victorian
Afternoon Tea
($16.95).

Raise a pinky to Vickys pursuit of making a science of wearing basic
black when she wore the shade exclusively for the 40 years after her
beloved Prince Albert died in 1840. Her journal was 122 volumes long
giving Emily Blunt plenty of source material for her performance in the
movie Young Victoria. And, while décor of the Victorian era is a bit
cluttered for our modern taste, we wouldnt say no to well-placed floral
wallpaper.

Victoria is the queen of our hearts. Jaelyn Molyneux
