Weve enjoyed many a sake-and-sushi soiree at Gingers iconic des Pins
Avenue location, but now the party is due north.
The landmark Japanese restaurant has opened a second location on the
ever-booming Villeray Street, in a space that was once a burger joint.
But no sign of greasy fries and sticky seats in this sleek new space:
its all about ultra-fresh, inventive sushi served up in a super-chic
minimalist space that looks like it could have been designed by Apple.
We started our sushi extravaganza with a delicious hot and sour soup
($7) and each maki, sushi and sashimi that followed was better than the
next.
But the mouth-watering heroes of the night were definitely the
extra-large spicy lobster cone ($13) and hard-to-find toro sashimi
($8.75).
Bottom line? Vive Villeray! Christine Laroche
