If I lived in the countryside, my little thatched house would be filled
with jam jars brimming with cow parsley, buttercups, daisies, thistles
and wild chervil.
The next best thing for a city girl is a visit to Sweet
Woodruff, where bunches of blooms appear freshly plucked from a
summer garden. Think Queen Annes lace, snapdragons, zinnias and garden
roses.
My favourite summer bloom is the dahlia, says owner Lisa Collins. The
spectrum of sizes, shapes and colours they come in is spectacular.
Throwing a summer fête? Take Collins advice and fill mismatched ceramic
jugs with clematis; Its stunning, and long-lasting when cut. Athena
