First things first: Hotel
Herman is not a hotel.
However, the sleek new Mile End restaurant (complete with concrete
tables, steel chairs and a gorgeous wooden floor) feels immediately
comfy and the service is impeccable, so hospitality definitely seems to
be in its DNA.
We grabbed a seat at the expansive U-shaped bar and resisted the
temptation to order one of everything. From what we did end up ordering,
we especially enjoyed the homemade sausage ($16) and seared-to-perfect
halibut ($20), but everything was fresh, simple and flavorful.
Heartbreak? Not at this hotel we are smitten! Christine Laroche
