Living La Dolce Vita

Last week we lived la dolce vita at Vancouver’s luxeLivingspaceshowroom.
Livingspace, together with Bacci’s and Boboli, hosted their second
annual La Dolce Vita event, in support of the Livingspace Emily Carr
Industrial Design Program Scholarship.

The chic crowd included numerous familiar faces – from news anchors, to
actors, architects to artists – everyone was game for an evening of
fashionable fun all for a good cause

Curious Oystercuties
shucked Malpeque and Beausoleil bivalves- our favourites were served
with a cucumber chile mignonette.

Martha Sturdy, an
Emily Carr alumnus (and aunt to our Editor in Chief), showcased her
world renowned talents in a special art instillation for the event.
Charlotte Wall, another notable Emily Carr alum, also created a custom
instillation called ‘here’, featuring a black and white maze of
fibreglass filaments.

Bao Beiowner Tannis
Ling and chef Joël Watanabe manned the dumpling bar. While guests
weren’t noshing on truffled pork and prawn chive "petits cadeaux", they
were lining up for food trucks Tacofino and Vij’s Railway Express, which
both created custom dishes for La Dolce Vita II.

Predicting gourmet popsicles as the next big trend, these boozy beauties
turned it up a notch with tequila sunrise and lime basil gin smash
flavours. For those wanting their desserts virgin, Butter Baked Goods
served up ridiculously delicious lemon thyme sugar cookie ice cream
sandwiches.

The main event was a Fall ’13 fashion show show, presented by South
Granville boutiques Bacci’s and Boboli. Looks from Lanvin, CÉLINE,
Stella McCartney and other high fashion houses trotted down the catwalk
to a background of glassblowers in designer Omer Arbel’s Bocci lighting
workshop. This dress fluttered down the runway, causing our hearts to
also flutter.

After the runway show it was back to coiffing cocktails courtesy ofHousexGuestHead
Barman Justin Darnes under strings of courtyard lights. Another
beautiful Vancouver evening- La Dolce Vita, veramente.
