Farm to table eating got that much better this week as Abbotsford’s Bakersfield
Eco-Dairy launched its new lifestyle blog with a Long Table Dinner
for food bloggers.
A refreshing blackberry soda met the blogger bus at the dairy. Bottom’s
Up!
If this is what a farmer looks like these days, we could be spending a
lot more time in the country.
On a tour, we met the cows like this one in the state-of-the-art
facility that is filled with fresh air and light (did you know cows
dislike shadows?).
The charming outdoor dining room was strung with lights and flags made
with photos of the dairy owners’ beautiful family.
This being a blogger event, everything was micro-documented, even the
radishes.
An apple a day keeps the doctor away (as do the eco-dairy’s eggs, high
in Vitamin D). Course one featured a coddled egg atop chanterelle
mushrooms – delicious.
We wined, dined, and experienced everything from the dairy’s ricotta (in
tortelini) to ice-cream on a berry crumble.
Time to say farewell, but we’ll be back to see the soon-to-come
interactive environment designed by Science World. Who knew a dairy
could be so much fun?
