We forgot we were in the middle of Calgary while dining at Black Pig Bistro, one of the city’s newest culinary hotspots.
With delectable Spanish-influenced cuisine by chef Alison Bieber and stylish décor, it was easy to believe that, rather than Bridgeland, the colourful streets of Barcelona lay just outside the Black Pig’s front door. Have the stellar green salad to start, then feast on house-cured Iberico ham on a tomato-rubbed baguette. If ordering off the lunch menu, the cornmeal-crusted red snapper with patatas bravas is a must-try (it’s gluten-free, too).
Next up: siesta time. —Laura Lushington
