Meet MEAT, Edmonton’s new, Texas-BBQ-inspired eatery offering up a carnivore’s dream of smoked meats in finger-licking sauces.
The diner sits beside the ever-busy Next Act Pub in E-town’s Old Strathcona and is (dare we say it) the next act for the owners. MEAT’s concept: good beer, good brisket and good bourbon served on long, family-style tables to inspire friendly conversation and full bellies. Try the apple-glazed smoked chicken (quarter, $9) and, if mom insists on eating your veggies, choose from the non-killer (get it?) selection of comfort-food sides like brussel sprouts, garlic fries, baked beans and our hands-down favourite, mac & cheese.
MEAT you there (sorry, we had to). —Janis Galloway
