Douglas Coupland has taken over the VAG.
The local visual artist created more than 100 pieces for the Vancouver Art Gallery’s Everywhere is Anywhere is Anything is Everything exhibition, which opened on May 31st. From Lego Land to smartphone art that changes when viewed through the lens of your phone, Coupland’s first-ever solo museum show features six distinct themes, including Canadiana, Utopian and Dystopian worlds and 21st-century references, and give a good glimpse inside the man’s brain (collector or hoarder—you decide). Our favourite: Pop Explosion, with fun slogan walls and pop head portraits that are completely instagrammable and a clear sign of our times.
