Video: French 75 Cocktails with The Artful Desperado

June 11, 2014

piLavender, lemons, Prosecco—"oh my" seems like an understatement. Is it OK if we take a long, luxurious sip instead?

Frankly, the French 75 cocktail is irresistible. Originally a concoction of gin, champagne, lemon and sugar, the drink has all the sparkling stylishness one would expect from an indulgence that originated in turn-of-the-century Paris. But, when we hung out with Vancouver food blogger Gabriel Cabrera, a.k.a. The Artful Desperado, we were smitten with how he gave the cocktail a spin of his own. Enter a slushy little scoop of lemon sorbet swooning in Prosecco and a couple of fragrant lavender blossoms sprinkled on top. In addition to having a knack with recipes, Gabriel is a food stylist of the highest degree—he whipped up a perfect Instagram shot after our cocktail and shared his professional tips on how to elevate your food pics to magazine-levels of greatness (we know you take them; you might as well take them better than everyone else).

Check out how to make the French 75 below, then head over to the VIP Room for tips on making it picture perfect with our Instagram tutorial. —Adrienne Matei
