Our Daily Bread

June 18, 2014

blackbird baking coBetween the handmade ravioli at Thomas Lavers, pulled-pork sarnis at Sanagan’s and the tandoori chowder over at Hooked, Baldwin Street has never tasted so good.

The latest to join the culinary party is Blackbird Bakery Co., a new bread boutique that brings artisanal loafs to market. There are baguettes, ciabattas and a wonderful sourdough made with whole spelt flour, plus a mouthwatering selection of sandwiches, pizzette and sticky, sugary, dessert-y treats. Fancy yourself a bit of a baker? Pick up a bag of Red Fife and knead your own dough at home.

Man doesn’t live by bread alone—but with buns this good, we’re sure tempted to try. —Athena Tsavliris
