Light Up the Night

Fireworks will be lighting up the night sky across the United States tonight, but there’s no reason to be jealous of our southern neighbours.

Italy, the first of six countries to compete in this year’s International des Feux Loto-Québec, kicks things off tomorrow night, July 5th, with a show called, “Cosmogony: From Darkness to the Big Bang.”

Wondering where to watch? Here are our top three vantage points in the city:

1. La Ronde Pro: To truly appreciate the choreography and timing of the show, this is the best place to be. Con: Entrance to the park is pricey (but it includes unlimited rides on Le Monstre).
2. Old Port: A romantic Old Montreal dinner followed by a stroll to see the fireworks? Be still, our beating hearts.
3. Jacques-Cartier Bridge: Hike up the bridge, which closes to traffic for the event, and be rewarded with a unique view.
