Golden West Music Fest, a.k.a., the little festival that could, is back to rock your socks for a second year.
The three-day outdoor indie festival, August 1st to 3rd, is an Edmonton cool kid’s wet dream, with fuzzy, garage-rock ensembles Switches and Arrowz, synth party jammers Physical Copies and hometown heroes The Wet Secrets all set to take the “Dead Horse Stage.” We’re also stoked to see comedian Jon Mick tell some darkly twisted funnies and the unveiling of so far hush-hushed installations by artists-in-residence April Dean and Josh Holinaty that promise to be quirky, gross and completely unexpected. Set in the beauty of the prairies near Ardmore, Alberta, this camping festival is a sweetly curated mix tape of nature, music, art and madness.
Spend your August long weekend wisely, friends. —Janis Galloway
