At Vitamin Daily we love a good pop-up, but this is the best example of flash retailing we’ve ever seen.
The Street Store, founded in South Africa in early 2014, is the first rent-free, premises-free pop-up shop entirely benefitting the homeless. The best part is, anyone can do it, anywhere in the world. Just visit http://thestreetstore.org, download and print some free posters and put them up in your city. The signs instruct others to hang and drop off their clothing donations, allowing those in need to choose the items they like. According to the founders, "For many used to rummaging in bins, this was their first dignified shopping experience." To date, more than 400 people have signed up and hosted their very own Street Store—and we think it’s time to put Canada on the map!
