With TIFF in full swing, we’re looking for the finest fuel to get us through the fest (a side of star-gazing would be nice, too).
master chef: Montecito‘s high ceilings and modern lighting may make for a sleek and sophisticated dining experience, but throw in a handful of communal tables and photos of restaurateur Ivan Reitman with Bill Murray and friends and it becomes a cosy, welcoming space. From the burger to the chef’s famous chicken, you can’t really go wrong (the kale salad, however, is a must). Montecito, 299 Adelaide St. W., Toronto, 416-599-0299, www.montecitorestaurant.ca
hollywood north: Over in America in the Trump Hotel, plenty of private TIFF parties are scheduled for flicks starring the likes of Keira Knightley, Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke and Kate Beckinsale. You never know: a cocktail at Calvin Bar in the lobby lounge may lead to gabbing with an A-lister. America, Trump International Hotel & Tower Toronto, 325 Bay St., Toronto, 416-306-5800, www.trumphotelcollection.com
star scene: Fangirl tendencies still unfulfilled? Make your way to Brassaii, where the Hollywood Reporters Lounge is housed but the resto remains open to the public throughout TIFF. If the crowd’s too thick for you to celeb spot, at least you’ll enjoy one tasty meal. Brassaii, 461 King St. W, Toronto, 416-598-4730, www.brassaii.com
