Pass the Butter

September 26, 2014

butter coffeeIf you haven’t heard about the butter coffee trend yet, we’re happy to fill you in.

Butter coffee (also known as Bulletproof Coffee, a brand created by entrepreneur Dave Asprey) is touted as a healthy replacement to old-school cream and sugar. In fact, proponents claim this rich cuppa joe can fill you up sufficiently to prevent snacking later on, while simultaneously giving you a boost of energy for the day. You can’t just use any stick of butter though; the trend calls for the grass-fed variety, plus a splash of MCT oil (coconut oil works, too). We were a little skeptical, so we brewed our own cup … and were actually kind of impressed. Our recipe tasted just like a really rich latte: one cup coffee, two tablespoons organic, grass-fed butter, one tablespoon coconut oil, mix till frothy.
