Late this August, two Toronto friends (who wish to remain anonymous) printed a roll of fluorescent stickers that read, "I Parked In a Bike Lane."
It was initially a joke among pals—mainly cyclists who got into scrapes having to abruptly pull out into traffic when confronted with illegally parked vehicles—but the idea, well, stuck. Now the movement’s gaining global traction. The stickers, meant to be slapped onto offending cars, are intended to be a less-confrontational-but-very-direct way to convey that endangering cyclists is impermissible. Don’t worry drivers; these babies peel off easily, leaving nary a mark on your finish.
We’re certain you’ll start seeing these stickers cropping up on other Canadian city streets soon, prompting a good pre-emptive reminder: don’t park in bike lanes. —Adrienne Matei
