Vancouver’s Best Pie

October 9, 2014

Good pie is as inextricable from autumn-slash-Thanksgiving as worn-in flannel, crunchy leaves and crisp air.

Face it: nothing beats digging into a thick wedge with a book and a steaming cup of tea. Add a picture window and some russet foliage and, damn, we just wrote a poem. That’s good pie for you: borderline magic, capable of elevating snack time into a moment of serene, seasonal significance. Ok, we have to stop.

Slide through our favourite pies in Vancouver, below, and dig in, deep. —Adrienne Matei

Vancouver’s Best Pie

We know good pie.

  • The Pie Hole S’more Pie

    By Vitamin Daily

Hey, if it prolongs the campfire magic, we’re in. Bear in mind, no storefront means ordering online is your ticket to marshmallow bliss.

  • Tartine’s Bumbleberry Pie

    By Vitamin Daily

You can’t beat a pie that tastes like summer squared and sounds like the Muppets named it.

  • The Pie Shoppe’s Pumpkin Pie

    By Vitamin Daily

This sister-run bakery makes the most perfect, softly spiced, deeply flavourful, creamy, earthy, it’s-the-great-pumpkin-Charlie-Brown pie in existence. Bike courier delivery available.

  • The Naam’s Dutch Apple Cranberry Pie

    By Vitamin Daily

If we die eating streusel-topped pie at The Naam, tell them we died doing what we loved.

  • Sophie’s Cosmic Cafe’s Apple Pie

    By Vitamin Daily

We like our apple pie the way we like our men: tall, and in a charming retro diner.

  • Savary Island’s Chicken Pot Pie

    By Vitamin Daily

Our favourite comfort food: butter-flakey crust melts like snow over tender chicken and veggies at this West Van institution.
