5 Relaxing Gifts to Give Yourself

November 17, 2014

The holidays are supposed to be a relaxing time but with events, gifts and cooking it can sometimes end up being the opposite. With that in mind: a list of gifts to buy yourself to make this stressful time of a year a bit jollier.

book a massage: Cliché, but reliable. A 90-minute session with Glenn Kukkee will have big, strong hands melting away your problems, stat. Starting at $75 for 40 minutes, book at www.electrahealthfloor.com.

3sleep training: If you’ve got young kids, then the holidays probably aren’t the only time of year you’re lacking in sleep. Nix the 2am wakeups by training your kids to sleep well. Desiree Cluff from Rockababy was our sleep guru through two kids, and sleep deprivation was unheard of in our house. Don’t worry, she won’t make you leave your child screaming in the room next door for two hours, I can guarantee most of the tears will be coming from you – tears of joy after an eight hour stretch. Packages start at $275 from www.rockababy.ca.

2good nightwear: For these holidays I’m suggesting a collaboration The Sleep Shirt has done with Vancouver retailer Rebecca Bree, featuring our short sleep shirt with a matching eyemask made in a blush pink polka dot cotton (eye-masks are the best way of saying “I’m unavailable”).  Nightshirt and eyemask gift box, $225 at Rebecca Bree or in store at 3680 W. 4th Avenue, Vancouver, 604-714-0085.

good sheets: It’s possible to get really nice bedding at a reasonable price. I love these H&M linen duvet sets, they are super soft and the crinkled linen look is great for people who don’t iron their bed sheets (raising my hand) Linen duvet set, $79.99 at H&M.

1extra time: I suggest alleviating your schedule by delegating the kids’ daily feedings to the frozen section of Les Amis du Fromage. Stock up on Artichoke Canneloni, Beef Stroganoff, and their award winning Four Cheese Macaroni. What you save in time cooking, you’ll gain in pounds. Check their website for the Kitsilano and East Vancouver addresses.

Now, to practice what I preach…
