"I just want to go for a drive …" I thought to myself as I woke up to one of the world’s most beautiful oceanfront views.
From our secluded, luxurious, five-star romantical tent at Rockwater Secret Cove on B.C.’s Sunshine Coast, we sipped coffee and breathed in the crisp, clean air. We had arrived the day before—it was an easy yet very enjoyable trip in our 2014 Volkswagon Touareg from Horseshoe Bay (only 30 minutes! Slightly longer if you almost lose your car on the ferry …). Once on the coast, it was all heated seats and Serial time. The stylish yet powerful Touareg was so easy to drive, I instantly fell for it. It’s cosy (doesn’t feel too big or bulky), elegant (all black everything), powerful, smooth, fun. It’s a beautiful piece of machinery. Our favourite features are the keyless entry, huge panorama sunroof and one-touch power tailgate. We drove down windy roads, up and down hills, did some accidental off-roading … the car performed like a champ.
Somehow, we managed to leave it long enough to walk the boardwalk to our tent, which we nicknamed Ant-Africa. With the fireplace blasting and heated floors on high, we read, relaxed, recharged.
If you’re like me and enjoy a nice drive, road trips and the feeling of exploring, get yourself into a Volkswagen dealership and test drive the Touareg. And if you’re looking for an accessible, get-away-from-it-all kinda weekend, we highly recommend the Rockwater Secret Cove Resort. For you and your beau. The tents are not necessarily the best for a girls’ weekend—no doors, one bed, one mirror (gasp)—but we were troopers and survived it nonethless.
