Sipping on Spirits

November 21, 2014
1The chain restaurant and cocktail establishment Spirit House, just opened their doors in Montreal last night, and we were there to soak up the boozy goodness.

Brick walls, leather banquets, and swarthy décor details characterize Spirit House’s atmosphere, while the ninety person capacity space and exclusive thirty person capacity social room keep the vibes cozy. The plethora of foreign bottles that line the back of the extensive bar had us wondering what our chosen concoctions, “The Old Fashionista” “The Honey Ryder” and “The Park Avenue” would taste like. Each mixture was a blend of strong alcohol taste, with a sweet liqueur additive and a discernable bitter kick. As the drinks settled warmly into our stomachs, we wisely ordered the nachos and calamari as a precaution in preventing intoxication. The nachos descended in front of us – a heavily cheesy layer of chips, sriacha sour cream, marinated red onions, and Thai beef strips—a definite departure from the usual nacho fare. The fried calamari was lightly battered with hints of curry and lime, delicious and dangerous for the waistline! It seems that’s the kick with Spirit House—great for the moment, perilous for the morning!
