Forget tights. We’ll be witnessing men in tutus when Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo hits the stage in Calgary (January 16th & 17th), Edmonton (January 20th and 21st) and Vancouver (January 24th).
This illustrious all-male troupe performs saucily skewed versions of classical ballet favourites, combining ridiculous comic antics with breathtaking feats of true technical artistry. Think terribly talented drag queens on point instead of in pointed stilettos.
Beyond being fun, these shows promise to be a great way to introduce someone to the ballet (read: anyone who is nervous that it may be to highbrow for them). —Randall MacDonald
