Gluten intolerance can seriously limit our capacity for fun. So long cheesy pizza, salty pretzels and ice-cold beer—scratch that, Montreal-based Glutenberg‘s got a solution.
Longtime friends Julien Niquet and David Cayer turned their gluten-free dream into a reality when they hooked up with brewer Gabriel Charbonneau to develop a golden blonde, dry, perfectly hoppy (with notes of lemon peel, to boot) ale we can enjoy without worry of bloating, fatigue and moodiness (all symptoms of gluten intolerance). And yes, it actually tastes like "real beer." Don’t believe us? Look no further than Glutenberg’s 2012 sweep—we’re talking all three gold, silver and bronze awards—of the World Beer Cup’s gluten-free category.
A big win for Brasseurs Sans Gluten, a small win for gluten-free bar stars everywhere! —Ariella Starkman
