Though dear old dad would likely enjoy the classic offerings at NAO, the Asian-Pacific side of this steakhouse may throw him for a loop.
Of traditional fare, let your papa choose from top cuts of meat, including single-pasture Wagyu from Iowa and Kobe beef from Japan. You, meantime, can select a lighter dish to go with your steak, like Lao raw beef tartar with squid ink chips or whole branzino marinated in red yuzukosho.
Cocktails, too, are equal parts old and new (that’s what NAO means, after all); drinks are made of housemade tonics, bitters and syrups (the Basho Sour with pineapple-infused sake, lemon juice and hibiscus syrup was our personal favourite). —Karen Kwan
