Composting is non-negotiable, but man can it ever be a pain.
Fortunately, the new Greenlid Compostable Compost Bin (starts at $12) is a bit of a wonder product, making eco-friendliness easy (even in tiny apartments). Manufactured in Canada in an environmentally sound facility, this green baby’s comprised of a reusable key lime-coloured top that snaps onto a bin made of recyclable plastics and end-of-life recycled cardboard—materials that biodegrade into contaminate-free soil. The fact that these bins can hold up to 4L of wet compost without leaking or reeking proves they’re more than just conceptually sound. The brand’s negotiating subscription contracts with Vancouver condos, after organic waste was banned from the city’s landfills on the first of this year, but you can find them across Canada at Home Depot and Home Hardware stores.
