New Eats: HarBin Dumplings

May 8, 2015

harbin dumplingsMile End residents used to travel to Chinatown to get their dumpling fix. Now they can curb their cravings without leaving the St. Laurent strip.

Our visit to HarBin Dumplings at the corner of St. Laurent and Villeneuve started with crispy fried tofu, followed by four varieties of dumplings: spicy chicken red curry, savoury beef and mushroom, light egg and chive, and beef and fresh coriander. Choose to have your dumplings boiled, steamed or fried and either eat in on handmade chairs or take your food to go. We stayed to watch the replay of the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic games on the large-screen TV.

We might still visit Chinatown, but only when we feel like a long walk. —Jennifer Nachshen
