Kitsilano Hypnotherapy founder Rob Hadley’s new office is located through a sea-blue door and up a narrow, vine-covered staircase you’d never noticed before on Fourth Avenue.
Hadley’s led the profession of hypnotherapy in Vancouver for 10 years, primarily working with addictions and physical ailments—he’s also got a hand in the city’s Harlequin Hypnosis show, happening in early October. His Kits space, however, uniquely accommodates a practice between clinical therapy and entertainment, where metaphysical hypnosis is made accessible to anyone and everyone. We visited for a past-life regression and, finding the atmosphere comfortable and light-hearted, zoned into an out-of-body experience that had us reliving significant moments experienced by a previous incarnation. Far from traumatic, our trance gave us insight into and release from present phobias and preoccupations and allowed us to project our future life trajectory in a clearer and more linear way than ever before; it truly worked, giving us a sense of reassurance and a lot to think about. When Hadley snapped his fingers for the last time, we felt invigorated and a bit beatific.
If you’re drawn to the idea of a safe and illuminating spiritual journey, start at the sea-blue door. —Adrienne Matei
