Who doesn’t like watching flicks on a plane?
From Hollywood’s latest releases to beloved ’90s classics, Air Canada’s long been providing quality in-flight entertainment—and, beginning this month, the movie-viewing gets even better. From August 1st to December 31st, cinema-geek passengers can tilt their seats waaaay back (just not during takeoff or landing) and settle in to watch 20 new Canadian films as part of enRoute’s short Film Festival, then vote online for their fave to win the coveted People’s Choice Award.
Among our top picks (screened recently in Vancouver, where we were lucky enough to meet several of the filmmakers themselves): Wool, a haunting migraine-inspired dreamscape of a man who moves back home to live with his parents; Monsieur Keven, which follows young Ariane as she searches for her lost cat—and contemplates her relationship with her boyfriend—along the wintery streets of Montreal; and Persistence of Vision, a moving profile of a film director who, having gone legally blind, questions what it means to see.
