Here’s How Yoga is Made Better With Art

October 19, 2015

yoga in the galleryFor three seasons now the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) has offered local yogis an opportunity to savasana in an artful space through its Yoga in the Gallery program.

Instructor Tori Lunden, known for her lighthearted Vinyasa classes, leads students through an hour of mind-body-soul stretches in a new section of the gallery every two weeks, with this fall’s session beginning amidst an exhibition of Alberta artist Chris Cran’s work, entitled "Sincerely Yours." For a $10 drop-in fee, you, too, can do triangle pose, happy baby and pigeon while admiring some of Canada’s best artwork (case in point: Cran’s large-scale technicolour pop-art portraits). Classes are on each Thursday until November 15th, with all levels of yogic experience welcome.
