Who says Halloween has to be a kids-only affair? Liven up your adult-approved costume party with these three spooktacular sips (we’ll bet your guests will be howling for more):
black widow: Conquer your arachnophobia with this delish blackberry infused mix:
2 oz blackberry juice
1 oz simple syrup
1 oz vodka
Dip a highball glass in purple-coloured sugar, to coat the rim. Fill glass with ice, add ingredients, stir and serve.
blood-rimmed martini: Bloody or not, this piña colad-esque drink’s a delicious treat (hey, maybe vampire life isn’t so bad after all):
Red decorating icing writing gel
3/4 cup half-and-half or light cream
1/2 cup coconut-flavoured rum
1/4 cup vanilla vodka or vodka
1/4 cup cream of coconut
Ice cubes
Pipe red gel ’round the rim of 4 to 6 martini glasses, letting it drip down the sides. In a pitcher, stir together half-and-half, coconut rum, vanilla vodka and cream of coconut. Place ice cubes in a martini shaker. Add coconut mixture. Cover and shake. Divide mixture among prepared martini glasses.
gin goblin: This gruesomely green gulper’s a refreshing mix of gin, green tea and cucumber (to keep you going between trick or treaters):
5 cups brewed green tea, room temperature or cold
3 cucumbers
2 cups mint
1 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup honey
1 cup gin
Pinch of salt
Brew tea. Mix with lemon juice and honey. Blend sliced cucumbers and mint till chunky. Add half of green tea mixture and blend until smooth. Add remaining green tea mix. Serve with giant ice cubes. Garnish with mint and cucumbers.
