Palm Springs is my happy place—we’ve been visiting the city for 10 years, and now have a mid-century modern home here which is a labour of love. Sometimes we even look at the weather forecast in Vancouver and book a same-day flight to get away from the rain. Because my Scotiabank Gold American Express Card lets you use your points for travel even after you have booked your trip, it’s great for last-minute getaways.
Our house is a five-minute walk to the Palm Springs Farmers’ market, so we try to start our trips on a Saturday and load up on organic veggies (and organic strawberry Chi popsicles) using my Scotiabank Gold American Express Card. My six-year-old daughter Charlotte gets the photo credit for this.
Sunday brunch is at Workshop Kitchen & Bar, which won a James Beard Award for best restaurant design. The wood-fired vegetables are amazing too, but watch out for the bottomless mimosas!
This visit, we took a side trip to La Quinta, where I surprised my husband with a polo lesson at the Empire Polo Club, whose fields will soon be transformed into the Coachella music festival in April. With the price we paid for our VIP tickets to Coachella this year, we’ll have earned enough points on our Scotiabank Gold American Express Card to help us get there!
Now it was my turn for fun. We stopped at two of my favourite shops: Elizabeth and James in Palm Desert, where I picked up this great Bluma Project bag from India, and at Trina Turk in Palm Springs where this bracelet had my name on it.
I almost went for this vintage Italian gondolier’s hat at The Frippery, a new store in the uptown design district. With all the points we’ve earned, perhaps a trip to Venice is in order next summer?
