Last year Edmonton’s Mexican cuisine drought came to an end with the opening of Rostizado and El Cortez. But this year we go from drought to flood and we couldn’t be happier. The family behind El Cortez is occupying the space above their hugely popular Old Strathcona restaurant and turning it into Have Mercy (now open). The concept is much the same as their downstairs sister, a Mexican eatery and tequila bar, but will be decidedly more of a late night joint. If the El Cortez ceviche is any indication, we’re really, really going to like this place!
