I’ve always wanted a beer can that matched my lipstick.
Don’t get me wrong; I love beer. Serious beers. Playful beers. Homemade beers. Sours.
Taste is first and foremost for me, but creative packaging and branding are a delightful bonus of the raging craft beer boom we’re seeing in B.C. Meaning I’m the first to admit that, when it comes in an unapologetically pink can, a little part of me smiles and says, Yes, I will crack that.
Good for me then, that Postmark Brewing‘s Raspberry Session Ale (now available at private liquor stores and Postmark’s Railtown location) is just the right balance of sweet and tart, thanks to the addition of some local, all-natural raspberry puree.
The 4.7 per cent beer, made from Perle Hops and CaraVienna Malt, even achieves a subtle pink and ochre ombre when it settles in the glass, making it one of the prettiest beers I’ve ever tried. So while they probably thought they were just making a cracking summer sipper, they also created the perfect Instagram accessory.
The brewery should seriously consider changing its slogan to "Postmark: Solving problems no one ever knew they had." —Kelsey Klassen
