Yann Levy does it again! The man behind Montreal’s vibrant eateries biiru and Escondite has just added another flavour-packed menu to the city’s downtown food scene.
Newly opened as of mid-June, La Habanera Café & Bar has quickly risen to the top of Montrealers’ “must-try” list for its affordable, fusion-inspired menu, featuring Cuban classics with influences from America, Canada and Asia. The Cuban Bao’Bun, stuffed with saffron fried chicken and Habanero salsa tingled our taste buds, while the decadent El Cubano sandwich, with its layers of mojo-marinated pork, ham, smoked mustard, provolone cheese and tangy pickles had us waving down our waiter for seconds.
The intimate locale, with its eclectic Cuban décor and perpetual blare of salsa trumpets, sits only 30 guests, so make sure to get those reservations in ahead of time!
¡Buen provecho! —Samantha Mateus
