Five Things to do At Wanderlust (That Aren’t Yoga)

July 21, 2016

Who wouldn’t want to spend five days in majestic Whistler while doing yoga throughout the day? Enter the Wanderlust yoga festival taking place July 28 to August 1. But if yoga isn’t quite your thing, there are a lot of other no-yoga things to do—and we mean a lot! —Miranda Sam

1. Experience the Spectacular

An event not to be missed, the Wanderlust Spectacular is a spectacle for the soul. An elite crew of instructors put on a performance on the first night of the event, taking yoga, martial arts, hula hooping, music and dance to the next level. Note: don’t forget to wear white so you can bask in the black light.

2. Attend a Speakeasy

The speaker series can be easily overlooked when you’re trying to pack in as many yoga workshops as humanly possible, but these are some of the most insightful and inspiring events you’ll find at the festival, covering everything from What Yoga Has To Do With Tinder to Living a Notable Life.

3. Shop Sustainably

The Kula Market is where you’ll find the hottest yoga gear, like Inner Fire’s graphic leggings made from recycled polyester. Not to mention you’ll also find tons of free food samples catering to your vegetarian, sustainable and organic taste buds.

4. Musical Hikes

How often will you get to listen to live music playing in the forest while you relax, think, meditate, draw, sit, or even nap? Or hike with a group of yogis while singing and chanting? Check out hiking events that lead you deep into the forest while you connect deep with yourself.

5. Get Uncorked

Who would’ve thought there would be an event to get your sip on at a yoga festival? Uncorked is an outdoor social hour featuring local and imported wine, beer and snacks. Add in live music and a setting sun and you’ve got the best post-yoga party. Special note: Uncorked at Lake Tremblant takes place on a cruise!

6. Stand-up Paddleboard Yoga

So this bonus 6th point is yoga, but it’s yoga done on a stand-up paddleboard! If you’ve never done SUP before, don’t fret, the wide paddle board is actually quite stable for your yogi moves, be it downward dog or headstand.
