Sunday Cider was born on a Sunday, the one day when the boys of currywurst resto Bestie had a day off to dream of their next ventures. Sunday is a uniquely BC small batch craft cider made with apples sourced from the Okanagan and the Similkameen Valley.
Forget an apple a day, each litre of cider has about five pounds of organic apples! It’s non-filtered, non-pasteurized and contains no preservatives or additives, which means it’s meant to be consumed STAT. Two varieties are available: First Press is fresh and light made with bittersharp apples, a definite crowd pleaser, while Hop is a stronger beer-inspired cider with hints of grapefruit. You can find Sunday Cider at a few hotspots around the city (including Bestie, natch) or at the growler fill window at their production plant, ironically only open on Saturdays from 1 to 7 pm—it’s like a backyard party every weekend.
We’ll take Sunday Cider any day of the week. —Miranda Sam
