We temper our wanderlust by taking advantage of the incredible variety of restos Toronto has to offer, and we now have a Mediterranean destination to add to our regular itinerary.
Ricarda’s 134 encompasses a few elements such as a bakery (the sweet smell wafting from it is heavenly), and tasting tables (where as a small group you can enjoy a custom menu focusing on particular Mediterranean cuisine), but we opted to go for the lunch menu in the gorgeous, airy restaurant. We started with flatbread; the spicy ‘nduja on the Toulon whet our appetite for the big bowls of pasta that were soon to come. For these bowls, you create them to your liking, starting with the region, and then selecting the pasta type and adding protein if you wish. The Campagna (mixed wild mushrooms, artichokes, tomato and basil) is fresh and simple, and had us reminiscing about Italian getaways.
We see our virtual passport being stamped aplenty here. —Karen Kwan
