Most fast food has a (well-deserved) bad rap but Campo, the new downtown Portuguese chicken eatery from Groupe Ferreira, proves that speed and quality aren’t mutually exclusive.
Orders are taken at the counter (trios, if desired) and can get in and out in record time but the similarities with traditional fast food end there.
The ambiance is warm, sophisticated and inviting. The chicken is locally sourced, grain fed and antibiotic-free. Ingredients are made in-house, including the killer bread for the must-try bifana sandwich and the luscious gravy for the chicken poutine. There is great attention to detail, like a crisp chorizo topping for the poutine and a drizzle of Ferreira olive oil on a dessert. Oh, and you can enjoy libations, including F wines from the family’s Douro Superior vineyards.
Now this is the kind of fast food we’re happy to get behind.
Obrigado, Campo. —Christine Laroche
