Our Two Go-To Italian Wines

December 1, 2016

Much like our wardrobe staples, sometimes we need a wine that fits any occasion. Classic, versatile and easy on the wallet, these go-to Italian charmers truly are the little black dress of holiday wines.

Vaporetto

Vaporetto Prosecco Brut, Veneto, Italy, $17.49 at BC Liquor Stores

Sparkling wine is a beautiful aperitif but also a very versatile food wine. Vaporetto’s bubbles are refreshingly crisp at first sip then melt to an elegant, soft palate with a fruity, floral finish. A great fit for a toast, tapas, or even a sushi soirée.

Kris Pinot

Kris Pinot Grigio, Delle Venezie, Italy, $18.49/bottle ($16.99 from Dec. 4-31) at BC Liquor Stores and select private retailers.

With enticing notes of acacia flowers, citrus and honey, this lean and refreshing Pinot Grigio is easy drinking and “consistently on-point.” It totes a 91-point score, if that’s your thing, and adorns top wine lists across the city. This crowd pleaser also doubles as a great gift under $20!
