Local coffees and teas, check. Homemade pastries, check. A place of community connection, check.
Longtime friends PL Lee and Stanley Wan became friends at Templeton Secondary School and are now business partners of AER, a cozy café blocks away from their original stomping grounds. Some must-trys at this East Van café include sandwiches made with homemade sourdough, coffee made from locally roasted Moja Coffee, and the uniquely flavoured orange cardamom flan. Named after a play on words on the senses (think: aerate, aroma, airy), AER Café perfectly lives up to its name: white Eiffel chairs and potted ferns bring lightness to the warm, wooden space. There’s even a mini library with books ranging from Harry Potter to Palahniuk to encourage customers to sit, stay, and connect.
