We were sitting around the office taking selfies—as you do—and pondering the ever-present challenge of looking ASAP (as stunning as possible) in photos, filters aside. For the answers, we turned to Laura Good, regional training exec for Smashbox (a cosmetic brand whose very founder, Davis Factor, is a celebrity picture-taker—not to mention the fact he’s Hollywood makeup legend Max Factor’s great-grandson!), and she gave us pretty much the best advice ever on how to get flawless makeup to nail the perfect shot.
prep your canvas. If time permits (or the night before) use a sheet mask to ensure your skin is plump as possible. Apply primer for a super-smooth canvas on which makeup looks better and stays on longer. One of my faves, Photo Finish Foundation Primer ($44), blurs imperfections and leaves skin camera ready. After that start making corrections with colour-correcting sticks. Pro tip: for small areas, apply an “x” to the spot or, for larger areas, apply as a large “#” then blend out. I love Color Correcting Stick in Don’t Be Dull ($27), which is lavender. I use it on the high points of the face to enhance the shape, add definition and banish dullness.
