Were you a Betty or a Veronica? Everyone’s favourite love triangle gets the Twin Peaks treatment with the CW’s new Archie reboot, Riverdale.
Gone is the goodie-two-shoes patina of the comic book series. In its place? A seedy murder mystery, mean girls vs. girl power, LGBTQ representation, a hot-for-teacher backstory, and a lot of beautiful people. Riverdale showrunner (and Marvel comics writer) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa takes the progressive direction of the print material and adds Americana edge, while dishing out a story each week that will have you wondering if you ever really knew the Archie gang at all.
So, grab a shake and pull up a seat at Pop Tate’s. There’s a lot of drama in this tiny Midwest town. —Kelsey Klassen
