Over the last couple of years Edmonton has seen an explosion in it’s culinary scene, the streets of downtown lined with purveyors of all sorts of tasty treasures.
Now we’re seeing the trend extend out to other neighbourhoods—namely, Norwood, where Otto has set up shop. Inspired by the eateries of Amsterdam, this place specializes in handmade sausages from FUGE Fine Meats (Edmonton’s premier salumiere) and craft beer. Proving that simplicity reigns supreme, the menu consists of a selection of sausages and sides made for sharing. There’s everything from beef bratwurst to house special the Otto Dog, with smoked Gouda. Our top pick is the North African-inspired Marguez, made with FUGE’s harissa paste.
The sidesaren’t chopped liver, either. Go for the mac ‘n’ cheese—quite possibly the best in the city. —Amy Dillon
