We’ve all been there: you wake up in the morning and your skin feels … blah. It’s grey and tired, and you’d try just about anything to give it a boost.
I was having one of those mornings but, luckily, it was perfectly timed with my visit to Skin Method for the Vancouver launch of Blend & Boost—a Canadian skin-care company that fills (finally) the full-customization niche. It all starts with the brand’s five base creams, each of which addresses a principal skin concern. Once you choose your cream (by visiting one of Blend & Boost’s licensed dispensaries across the country), it’s blended with up to three of 13 boosters (i.e., active ingredients) to create a completely customized product. There are 90 possible combinations available to cover virtually every skin-care need and concern. Plus, the range is entirely free of fragrances, parabens and gluten.
The experience began with a 30-minute consult, which included a thorough questionnaire and a doctor-led skin assessment. The results determined my bespoke formulation: an all-in-one "Aleeza" cream, couriered right to my door, that eliminates the need for separate night creams, eye creams, moisturizers and serums. After several weeks of use, my skin already feels brighter—I can feel the toxins working their way out. It’s a cream with a kick, and I’m looking forward to big results. —Aleeza Khan
