m&s mac. If anyone knows what to wear when it’s pouring, it’s the Brits. Marks and Spencer London carries a zillion fetching options for kids, but we love the simplicity of this transparent mac with easy-to-close snaps, giant pockets and colourful piping. Tickety-boo! marksandspencerlondon.com

bogs boots. I can’t say enough good things about BOGS footwear, with my wee ones wearing these hand-me-downables through sleet, snow, rain and (yes) even shine. They have grippy soles and Max-Wick technology that, unlike most rubber boots, means they never get sweaty and stinky. And this season’s crop of prints are as peppy as ever – frogs and pansies and dots, oh my! bogsfootwear.ca

k-way packables. I’ve probably owned a K-way since I was three and now my daughter does, too. These French classics are perfectly packable, layer well over spring jackets and come in a cornucopia of colours, from moss green to hibiscus (and everything in-between). Mais oui. k-way.ca

hatley umbrella. I had no luck getting my five-year-old to hold an umbrella until she spotted this tropical bird brolly from Hatley. The Quebec-based company is pretty much the expert in keeping kids both dutifully dry and irresistibly cute at the same time. Its umbrellas are sturdy and super easy for small hands to open and close. hatley.com
